About Dry Eyes
Dry eyes are defined by 2 types, evaporative and aqueous deficiency, each with multiple causes.
Evaporative dry eyes occurs when the glands on your eye lids fail to secrete an oil called meibum which locks in the tears that coat the eye. This causes the tears to evaporate faster than usual leading to a burning and stinging sensation.
Aqueous Deficiency occurs when your eyes do not produce enough tears to keep the eyes moist. This causes the eyes to constantly feel sandy and gritty.
When you use eye drops, it acts as a mask for the symptoms but doesn't fix the problem. The role of our dry eye clinic is to indentify the type and tackle the cause head on to stop dry eyes once and for all . -
